LAHORE: The CIA police have arrested a man for threatening and demanding extortion money from the family of former governor of Punjab Salmaan Taseer on Thursday. The accused has been identified as Muhammad Nawaz. According to police, a person called the daughter of the late Salmaan Taseer and said that he was a member of Daish-ul-Islam. He demanded Rs2 million extortion money and threatened her that he would kidnap and kill their children.
Police have registered an FIR at the North Cantt Police Station. CCPO Amin Wains handed over the case to the SP CIA Muhammad Umer Virk. SP Umer Virk and his team collected the details of the case and traced the man from mobile phone tracking.
It is worth mentioning here that the wife of the accused person had worked in the late Salmaan Taseer’s house. The accused person got information and mobile number of Salmaan Taseer’s family from her.
