Three killed over enmity in Jacobabad

SUKKUR: Three people, including a man and his son, were killed in Jacobabad.  According to details, almost a dozen armed men barged into the house of Muhammad Azam Jakhrani and killed him, his son, Ameer Hamza, and nephew Sohran Jakhrani. Police said the incident was apparently a result of enmity between two groups of Jakhrani tribe. 

 

  Two awarded death sentence

SUKKUR: The Court of the second additional sessions judge in Dadu awarded death sentence to two men. Reports said that the court in the light of the statements of the witnesses as well as evidence awarded on Tuesday death sentence to Amjad Panhwar and Irfan Panhwar who had a year ago assaulted and killed a 10-year-old boy. 

 

Woman kills husband

SUKKUR: A woman allegedly strangled her husband to death in Kazi Ahmed.  Reports said that in Hamza Jatoi village the accused strangled her 45-year-old husband Dhani Bakhsh to death.  Police have arrested the accused.    They said that during investigation they learnt that the accused had been forced to marry Dhani Bakhsh, who was more than twice her age.       

 

Three die in accidents

SUKKUR: Three people died in two road accidents.  Saeed Tanwri and Mehar Mangi died when they were knocked down by a trailer in Pano Aqil.    On the Kotri Kabeer road, Hakim Burradi died when his motorcycle collided with a car.

 

APNS condoles death

KARACHI: Sarmad Ali, President and Umer Mujib Shami, Secretary General of the All Pakistan Newspapers Society, have expressed profound grief on behalf of the APNS over the sad demise of Abdul Rasheed, father of Atif Saeed Farooqi, Editor, Daily Sama, Lahore. The APNS office-bearers have offered condolence to the bereaved family and have prayed that the Almighty Allah rest the departed soul in eternal peace and give them courage and patience to bear the irreparable loss.

 

Indian coast guard arrests

26 Pakistani fishermen off Gujarat coast

AHMEDABAD: The Indian coast guard on Tuesday claimed to have apprehended 26 Pakistani fishermen and seized their fishing boats off Gujarat coast near Kutch as they allegedly crossed the Indian territorial waters.

According to the New Indian Express, a release issued by defence PRO said in Ahmedabad that these Pakistani fishermen in five boats were held yesterday when they were allegedly inside Indian territory. The coast guard vessel C-419 apprehended Pakistani fishing boats with 26 crew members on board.

 

Commission to be formed to talk to mining firm, protesters

SUKKUR: The chairman of the district council of Tharparkar has asked the mining firm to hold talks with the protesting villagers to address their genuine grievances. Dr Ghulam Haider Samejo said that a committee comprising seven members of the council was being formed to hold talks with the officials of the mining company and the protesters against the pond at Gorano village. He said that the firm might be asked to halt the construction work on the site in the light of the recommendations of the committee members. Earlier, Syed Fida Hussain Shah and other members of the Arbab Group registered their strong protest against the construction of the reservoir and accused the CEO of the firm of using threatening language against those who have staged hunger strike. He said that his group, led by a former chief minister of Sindh, Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim, was not against the Thar Coal Project but against the controversial projects. 

 

Girl gang-raped

PAKPATTAN: A girl was gang-raped for three days.The cousin of Amanat of K Block, Arifwala, was on her way when three accused, including Sarwar, took her to some unknown place by saying that her mother was injured in a road accident. Later, the accused persons allegedly raped her for three days. The girl got a chance and returned home on Tuesday. Police have registered a case.
