Four killed in road accident
LAHORE
Four persons were killed in a collision between a truck and a tractor-trolley on Jia Bugga Road, Raiwind City, on Sunday.
According to police, the accident between a truck and a tractor-trolley took place due to speeding, as a result of which, five persons sustained critical injuries. Rescuers rushed them to hospital where four of them succumbed to their injuries.
rewarded: The capital city police officer (CCPO) gave away cash prize and commendation certificate to an ASI for arresting two drug pushers. ASI Nabeel Shahzad had arrested two drug pushers, Azhar Butt and Tariq Mahmood, in the Subzazar area and recovered 65-kg charas and 25-kg opium from their possession.
Body found in canal: Police fished out a body of a 50-year-old man from the canal on Muslim Town Morr on Sunday. Police have shifted the body, yet to be identified,to morgue. Meanwhile, a 41-year-old man died after falling from the roof of his house in the Mozang area. The deceased was identified as Jamshed.
runaway girl: A traffic warden, Nadeem, in the Lorry Adda sector found a 15-year-old girl and handed over her to police on Sunday. The girl, identified as Saima of Rawalpindi, who served as a maid in a house in Islamabad, from where she had run away allegedly due to torture of her by her employer. The Lahore Traffic DIG appreciates the warden’s effort.
Man held with 1,000 kites: Harbanspura police arrested a kite-maker and seized 1,000 kites and string. The arrested accused was identified as Ibrar. Police seized 1,000 kites and string from his house. Meanwhile, Qila Gujjar Singh police arrested Usama, Ashraf , Waqas , Tanzim ,Shoaib and Shahid and recovered 500 litre alcohol and 100 bottles of liquor of different brands from their possession.
35 suspects held: Police carried out search operations in the City on Sunday and arrested 35 suspects. The arrested suspects had failed to produce their identification papers for checking. Police also conducted search operations in the Wagah area.
PHP arrest 17 POs: Punjab Highway Patrol (PHP) claimed to have arrested 50 criminals. PHP teams arrested 50 persons, including 17 proclaimed offenders (POs). Officials seized 236-litre liquor, 5,880-gram charas, five pistol, three rifles and 58 bullets and cartridges from their possession. Meanwhile, PHP rendered help to 2,024 travellers. PHP also reunited two children, Zeeshan Abbas and Samina, with their parents.
