Islamabad: A petition has been filed in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) against the sale of adulterated and contaminated milk while urging the court to direct the respondents to initiate action against it.
Petitioner Akhtar Mehmood Raja, a resident of Sector F-10/3 has cited Mayor Islamabad Metropolitan Corporation, Chief Commissioner Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT), Deputy Commissioner, District Health Officer and Deputy Director Food as respondents. Justice Athar Minallah of the IHC will hear in this matter today (Friday).
The petitioner through his counsel Yasir Mehmood Chaudhry adopted in the petition that the sale of chemically adulterated and contaminated milk is a thriving business in the city and authority responsible to check the quality were in deep slumber.
Petitioner on September 15, 2016 also filed applications with the relevant authorities to check this menace but as usual there was no response from the other side. Milk is an essential household product and it is more consumed by the children and infants. The sale of chemically adulterated milk is creating health issues for the residents.
Pure food is right of the citizens under pure food rules 1965. Government by neglecting such issues of vital importance is compromising fundamental rights of the citizens. Petitioner has prayed to the court to order the authorities to launch a crackdown on the milk selling shops, check the adulteration and initiate action against the culprits.
