ISLAMABAD: Eid Miladun Nabi (PBUH) was celebrated across the country on Monday with religious fervour. Mahafil-e-Milad were organized by religious, social and academic organizations and processions were organised in almost all cities, towns and villages of Pakistan.
The day dawned with special prayers for the unity of the MuslimUmmah and prosperity of the country. Like previous years; houses, shops, private and government buildings, mosques and shrines were illuminated. Medical camps were set up to facilitate participants of processions organised on the day. Rescue 1122, Emergency Service, Bomb Disposal Squad, Fire Brigade, Civil Defence and police remained alert to deal with any untoward incident.
Special dishes were prepared at homes and people distributed food among their neighbours, relatives and needy people. Children also came out in large numbers to join their elders to celebrate 12th of Rabiul Awwal.
In Karachi, the main procession started from the Memon Masjid and culminated at Nishter Park. In Hyderabad, various processions were organised by religious and social welfare organizations.
The people of the Hazara Division celebrated the sacred day with enthusiasm in all six districts. Markets and buildings in Abbottabad, Haripur, Mansehra, Havelian and adjacent towns were decorated with lights, flags and banners to celebrate the birthday of Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
In Multan, the main procession arranged by the Jamaat Ahl-e-Sunnat Wal Jamaat started from Ghanta Ghar Chowk and passed through Pakistan Gate, Haram Gate and Mumtazabad and ended at Ghanta Ghar. The day was also celebrated in Gilgit-Baltistan and Seerat conferences were organized at the district level where religious scholars and intellectuals shed light on the life, sayings and teachings of Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). In Mirpur, processions were taken out of various areas.
