People living in most villages along the coastal areas of Karachi do not have natural gas facilities and they have no option but to burn wood for cooking. The residents of these villages have to go to nearby hills and forest to cut trees to collect wood, which they use for cooking purpose.
These villages including Mubarak Village, Deh Mann, Deh Allah Bano etc are still being ignored despite the fact that nearby villages in Deh Lal Bakhar have been provided gas five years ago. No concrete measure has so far been taken by the government to improve the socio-economic condition of the residents – who are mainly fishermen. The government and the Sui Southern Gas Company Limited are requested to take measure to provide natural gas to these localities.
