Pakistan people’s Party (PPP) took up the PIA plane crash tragedy in the National Assembly (NA) to debate inefficiency and poor states of affairs of national flag carrier through an adjournment motion.

Legislators of the PPP Parliamentarians Syed Naveed Qamar, Dr Nafisa Shah, Shahzia Atta Marri, Zafar Leghari and Nawab Yousaf Talpur on Friday submitted adjournment motion in the NA Secretariat.

Through the adjournment motion, the legislators of the PPP Parliamentarians stated that the tragic incident reveals poor state of affairs of national airline as initial reports suggest that the incident occurred due to lack of proper safety measures. “This is shear negligence on the part of federal government,” they stated in their adjournment motion.

The adjournment motion stated that it’s not the first accident of its kind but till date no concrete air safety strategy has been devised by the stakeholders to avoid such dreadful and unbearable mishaps and it is a high time for a thoughtful and immediate introspection on the state of airline safety in Pakistan. “This is serious issue and requires immediate discussion on the floor of the house,” the adjournment motion stated.
