Hepatitis C screening tests held

‘Asmaan Foundation’ with the collaboration of Ms Samina Shoaib, a Social Worker organised ‘Hepatitis C Screening Test’ at Saint Patrick School, Dhok Kala Khan, UC-21.

Asmaan Foundation CEO Hammad Khan, Principal of Saint Patrick School, Dhok Kala Khan, Paster Sarfaraz, Dr Shoaib Ahmed, educationists and members of civil society also attended the event.

Around 200 residents of the community were screened in which 8 patients were found having Hepatitis C in screening test. Samina Shoaib while addressing the community said that the reason of this screening test is to create awareness among the people living in this area about their health. “It is very unfortunate that we don’t visit doctors for our routine medical check-up to know about our health,” she added.

She further said that patients of Hepatitis C are increasing in our country because of many reasons and there is need to serious action to deal with this disease. “So far the government took serious action we must visit to our nearest doctors for our medical check-up and should start treatment of disease at its initial stage,” she added. 

Dr Shoaib Ahmed in his address said that Hepatitis C is client killer and patients came to know about this disease at its last stage. He said while taking the precautionary measures there is need to go for regular medical check-up after every six months.  Asmaan Foundation CEO Hammad Khan said that it is very unfortunate that people living in such areas have more diseases then others who are living is posh areas. People who don’t care about drinking water and cleanses of their houses and road are much affect with such diseases.

He said we are trying to give free service to the people living in such areas with this we would also get date that how many people have Hepatitis C in twin cities. This is the first step after that we have planned to arrange more tests of different diseases for minority living in twin cities.

‘Asmaan Foundation’ Joint Secretary Shoaib Ahmed said that contaminated drinking water of twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad is one of the main reasons of Hepatitis C. He said ‘Asmaan Foundation’ is serving the humanity and trying its best to arrange more medical camps for the people who couldn’t afford to visit doctors and pay money for such expensive medical tests.
