LAHORE: Tariq Mehmood of Garrison Golf Club demonstrated his golfing ability to win the seniors event of the All-Pakistan Quaid-e-Azam Amateur Golf Championship at the Lahore Gymkhana Golf Course on Friday.

In the stroke play competition contested over 18 holes, Tariq exhibited the hitting power which one normally associates with young amateurs.

His brilliance was reflected by his card of gross 76 over 18 holes.

Col Asif Mehdi of Defence Raya Golf Club compiled a score of gross 76, but Tariq won the top position as he had a better score on the back nine.

Col Waqar Ahmed had a score of gross 78, and Javed A Khan 80.

Asad Hameed and Waqar Ahmed did well in the net section.

Asad dominated the net section proceedings over 18 holes and his command over his shot making was exemplary. Not a single tee shot went wayward and he ended the competition with a score of net 69, three under par.

Waqar had a similar score of net 69 but Asad won as a result of his better score over the last nine holes.

Among the ladies, Shahzadi Gulfam captured the gross first prize. Her score for 18 holes was gross 88. Tehmina Rashid came second in gross.

The winner in the net was Shahnaz Moeen and Rabia Tiwana came second.

A total of 104 amateurs will tee-off on Saturday (today) morning.
