Work on girls’ school inaugurated in Orakzai

HANGU: Development work on a Government Higher Secondary School for Girls in Ghaljo in Ismailzai tehsil of Orakzai Agency was inaugurated here on Wednesday.

Corps Commander Peshawar Lieutenant General Hidayatur Rehman, Inspector General of Frontier Corps Major General Shaheen Mazhar and Additional Chief Secretary Fata Fida Muhammad Wazir inaugurated the work on the school building. The school was destroyed during militancy in the agency. The school would be reconstructed with an estimated cost of Rs14 million.

Speaking at an event to this effect, Lieutenant General Hidayatur Rehman said that peace had been restored to almost all the tribal areas and the displaced tribespeople were being sent back to native areas.He said that the development of Orakzai Agency was priority, adding a three-year plan has been prepared to bring the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) on a par with other areas of the country. He said that the peace to Orakzai had been restored as a result of matchless sacrifices of tribespeople and security forces.

He urged the tribespeople to resolve their disputes and adopt the path of peace. He also asked the parents to send their children, particularly girls, to schools. He said that he would try to establish an Army Public School in Orakzai and promote agriculture there. He also stressed on the local not to allow militants and anti-social elements to their areas to maintain peace.
