LAHORE
Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif while issuing special instructions to provincial administration from London has directed that timely payments to sugarcane growers be ensured and they should not face any difficulty in this regard.
He directed that an effective system of immediate payments to sugarcane cultivators be evolved and implemented. He said that delay in payments to sugarcane growers for their labour would not be tolerated. According to a handout, the chief minister said that farmers were his brothers and he considered their problems his own. He said that interests of cultivators would be fully safeguarded as prosperity of the country depended upon prosperity of farmers. He said a Kissan Package of Rs100 billion had been given for the welfare of cultivators and increase in per acre yield. He said that programme of provision of interest-free loans to farmers had also been launched first time in the history of the country. He said the programmes for uplift of farmers would have to be implemented speedily.
Shahbaz Sharif directed that payments to sugarcane growers be made immediately and said he would personally monitor this process.
