This refers to the editorial, ‘Loans, laws and transparency’ (Dec 5). One supports ensuring transparency in written-off loans. When a person in need applies for bank loans and subsequently fail to pay back the loan, banks don’t let go such person easily. However, the same banks write-off huge loans taken by the political elite. This directly affects public interest and denial of information by State Bank is not understood. It is alleged that businessmen and industrialists from political parties and Civil/Military Bureaucracy are the beneficiaries and are taking shelter under some outdated legal system in preventing State Bank from divulging necessary information to Parliament. I as a senior citizen appreciate role of concerned Parliamentary Committee and whole heartedly support their stand on a matter of utmost public interest.
