Use of large gas cylinders in hotels and restaurants by 'untrained' workers to meet requirements in the face of increasing gas loadshedding has made customers vulnerable to any untoward incident.

"Two large gas cylinders have been placed within the restaurant to cook food but the risk factor cannot be ignored as I have personally seen the workers dragging them on floor," said Tayyab Amin, a customer who visited a restaurant at F-10 Markaz.

It is pertinent to mention here that the owners have placed large number of big gas cylinders in hotels and restaurants due to gas loadshedding that is affecting their routine work.

Mushtaq Ahmad, a visitor at G-9 Markaz, said two hotels adjacent to each other are using big gas cylinders that have been placed right within the chairs of the customers, adding "The presence of cylinders in the dining halls is really very dangerous to lives of the customers."

He said there must be some kind of safety measures for use of gas cylinders in the commercial outlets because the way the workers use them may cause any fatal incident.

Mushtaq said there had been number of incidents in the twin cities in which the gas cylinders exploded when the workers tried to drag them from one place to another without taking precautionary measures.
