MULTAN: A total of 9,778,451 bales of seed cotton (Phutti) have reached ginneries across Pakistan till December 1, registering an increase of 13.28 percent as compared to the corresponding period of the last year.
According to a fortnightly report of the Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association (PCGA) issued on Saturday, of the total arrivals, phutti equivalent to 8,900,666 bales have undergone the ginning process till December 1. However, the process of ginning is still in progress.
The Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) has not started purchase of cotton so far. However, exporters purchased 184,944 cotton bales.
Textile mills have purchased 7,683,980 bales during the recent season. A total of 199,527 bales were still lying with the ginneries as unsold stocks, the report added.
