 Two killed as rivals trade fire in Peshawar

PESHAWAR: Two persons were killed and eight wounded when rival groups clashed over a petty issue in Regi on Sunday.“Pir Mohammad and Shahjehan were killed and eight others sustained critical wounds when the rival groups traded fire,” said an official. Station House Officer Asif Ali said four accused Gohar, Jauhar and Ashfaq opened fire in which 10 people were wounded, two of them later expired at the hospital. The official said the three accused in the case were arrested during raids in Mathra.  An official said the rival groups had a dispute over construction bricks.

 

25 suspects arrested in Swat

MINGORA: The police arrested 25 suspected persons during search operations in various areas in Swat district on Sunday, official sources said.They said the police launched search operations in various areas in the suburb of Mingora city and arrested 25 suspects. The police also seized arms and narcotics from their possessions. The held persons were shifted to the concerned police stations where further investigation was underway.

PESHAWAR: An explosion occurred outside a house in jurisdiction of Yakatoot Police Station early Sunday. The police said an improvised explosive device was planted outside the house of Haji Afzal, a cloth merchant, near Wazir Bagh, which went off at around 2:20am. The explosion did not cause any casualty or damage.  —Correspondent
