Secret Service in talks to rent space in Trump Tower: report

Law enforcement told media that the Secret Service is in negotiations with the Trump Organization to take over two vacant floors at Trump Tower. According to media, both the Secret Service and NYPD are planning to run a command post out of the space where president-elect Donald Trump's wife Melania and 10-year-old son Barron are expected to live for several months after

 

 Inauguration Day.

The Secret Service is required to protect the first family wherever they go. When President Obama or Vice President Biden have gone on vacation, security will pay to rent nearby homes or domiciles to set up security and continue to monitor the first and second families.

 

IED defused in Peshawar

PESHAWAR: A four-kilogram improvised explosive device (IED) was defused in the Afridiabad locality in Gulbahar on Friday. Officials said the police were called after the locals found a suspicious bag. The bomb disposal experts defused the explosives, which were stuffed in the bag, the official said, adding, the explosives were connected to a time-device.

 

SC moved over Kashmir issue

LAHORE: Hafiz Saeed, chief of Jamatud Dawa, on Friday filed a writ petition in the Supreme Court Lahore Registry to raise the issue of Indian Held Kashmir at international level.The petitioner submitted that the Indian forces were committing atrocities against the Kashmiris and killing them but the government was not taking up the issue effectively at the international level.  He prayed the court to order the government to raise the issue at the international level.

 

ANP leader held for pointing gun at cop

DIR: Awami National Party (ANP) leader Muhammad Gul was arrested on Friday for pointing a pistol at a traffic constable in Lower Dir. The leader was stopped by the traffic police for breaking a traffic signal in Timergarah. However, he became furious and said: “Don’t you know who I am.” He also pulled out his pistol and pointed it at the constable. Police took the leader into custody and locked him up in the police station. Police say that a case has been registered against Muhammad Gul over threatening and abusing the constable and under the Weapons Ordinance.

 

Six illegal constructions demolished in Lahore

LAHORE: Staff of the Town Planning Wing of Lahore Development Authority demolished six illegal constructions and sealed another one during its operation here on Friday.The operation was carried out in the Venus Housing Scheme and Koh-e-Noor Housing Scheme on the Ferozepur Road, officials said. They said an illegal sub-division of a plot in the Venus Housing Scheme, illegally constructed foundations of a residential structure, a boundary wall and two shops near the Elite Town were demolished while building of a school in the Koh-e-Noor Society was sealed during the operation.

 

School blown up in Mohmand

GHALLANAI: Unidentified terrorists on Friday blew up a state-run primary school in the Safi tehsil of Mohmand Agency, tribal sources said. They said the terrorists had planted explosives near the building of a government primary school for boys in Chamarkand area in Safi tehsil. The blast razed the school building to the ground early in the day. However, it caused no casualty, the sources said, adding, the locals said that the school was also targetted in the past and the building was repaired some time ago.The political administration arrested the watchman of the school.
