Two killed in accident

SUKKUR: Two passengers were killed and 18 others injured in a collision between a coach and a truck near the Sangi Bypass here.  The coach was en route to Punjab. The injured have been shifted to a nearby hospital.

 

Anti-polio campaign in Nawabshah in progress

NAWABSHAH: Three-day anti-polio campaign is in progress in the district, and Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Nouman Siddique is personally monitoring the progress of the campaign.  He visited the People’s Medical Hospital and Polio Transit Points.  He also met citizens to ask them if they found the campaign satisfactory.  The DC later visited the Directorate of Colleges of Shaheed Benazirabad and also visited Ayesha Government Girls College where the regional director of colleges told him that 60 students were admitted to the college at this time and capacity of the college was 600 students.

 

Construction of overhead bridge delayed

NAWABSHAH: More than five years have passed, but the construction of a bridge over the railway track near the old vegetable market is yet to be completed.  The citizens are facing hardships in the absence of the bridge as it is supposed to connect two parts of the city divided by the main rail track.

 

Students told to believe in merit, excellence

SUKKUR: Prof. Dr. Noor Ahmed Shaikh, acting vice chancellor, Shah Abdul Latif University of Khairpur, has asked students to firmly believe in merit and excellence because it is the need of the hour. He said this during his inspection of the second semester examinations. Prof. Shaikh expressed his satisfaction over conducting of the examinations as per schedule.  He also visited the Department of Pharmacy and the Faculty of Management Sciences.
