Sports and co-curricular activities ‘Azm-e-Aalishan’ held
PRIZE DISTRIBUTION CEREMONY

To encourage the spirit of healthy competition and to promote co-curricular activities among students, Directorate of FGEI Cantonment and Garrison, annually organises All Pakistan Sports and Co-curricular activities.
In keeping with this tradition, competitions were held among the Colleges of FGEI Directorate at Regional and all Pakistan level. In this regard a Regional Prize Distribution Ceremony was held here on Wednesday, under the auspices of FGEI Directorate (C/G) at FG Postgraduate College for Women, Kashmir Road.
Professor Shaista Zaid, Sitara-e-Imtiaz, pride of performance and former principal of FG College for Women, Kashmir Road, was the chief guest on this occasion. GSO I Rawalpindi Region, Lt. Col Saadat Ullah also attended the ceremony.
The ceremony comprised of two segments- Regional Prize Distribution and ‘Azm-e-Aalishan’. This was followed by the welcome address of GSO-I Lt. Col. Saadat-ullah. He welcomed the chief guest Professor Shaista Zaid and paid rich tributes to her as an academician, orator, administrator and media personality. He also mentioned the historical development of the FGEI Directorate and its mission to provide affordable education and holistic grooming of our future torch-bearers.
The first segment of the event entitled ‘Azm-e-Aalishan’ was held to commemorate and pay rich tribute to our founding leaders and our valiant armed forces.
On the occasion Hajra Khalid expressed her views regarding the great resolve of our national leaders and the relevance of their message for the youth of today. Iqra Ejaz delivered a speech in Urdu titled “Quad-i-Azam: A Great Leader” in which she expressed how the exemplary life and dynamic personality of our Quaid serves as a guiding star for today’s youth. Sajar Ali paid tribute to the poet-philosopher Allama Iqbal by presenting some selections from Kalam-e-Iqbal in her melodious voice. Shabeeh Fatima also rendered some invigorating verses of Allama Iqbal that inspired the audience.
The real gem of the event was “Sohni Dharti Regional Dress Show” which fabulously displayed the rich and diverse cultural heritage of Pakistan. Students also presented a short skit steeped in the spirit of nationalism.
In the second part of the ceremony organised for Regional Prize Distribution, certificates and trophies were presented by the chief guest to all the winners at the regional level. On the basis of overall performance in sports and co-curricular activities, the trophy for best college in the region went to FG Postgraduate College for Women, Kashmir Road, Rawalpindi.
The trophies won by the colleges in the Rawalpindi Region are as follows. Trophies for Sports (Badminton and Table Tennis), Flower Arrangement (Sadia Saeed) and Embroidery (Ambreen Nasir) were won by FG Postgraduate College for Women, Kashmir Road.
Trophies for Sports (Volley Ball), Card-making (Irtiza Kanwal), Cooking (Aroosa Saeed) and Software Competition (Noor Ghani, Mehwish Pervaiz) were won by FG Degree College for Women, Abid Majeed Road.
