Khassadar, smuggler killed in Jamrud
LANDIKOTAL: An alleged smuggler and a member of the Khassadar force were killed in an exchange of fire at Lala Kandow in Jamrud tehsil of Khyber Agency, an official said on Tuesday.
Assistant Political Agent of Jamrud Ziaur Rehman told The News that a group of smugglers were trying to smuggle narcotics via Lala Kandow in the dead of dark.“The members of the Khassadar force shouted at the smugglers to stop, but they opened fire, injuring two sepoys,” he added.
He said that a smuggler identified as Dil Jan, a resident of Jamrud, was killed when the Khassadars returned the fire.The injured Khassadars Muhammad Sher and Baghi Khan, residents of Jamrud were rushed to the Hayatabad Medical Complex in Peshawar, where one Muhammad Sher breathed his last.
Ziaur Rehman said the smugglers escaped from the scene. He said that 12 kilogram hashish, nine kilogram opium and one Kalashnikov were seized after the clash.
