Pakistan eager to complete IP gas project
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan is eager to complete Iran-Pakistan (IP) gas pipeline project and a delegation will soon visit Iran to discuss matters related to the energy project, an official said.
Mobin Saulat, managing director of Interstate Gas Systems, in an interview with IRNA, said he had a very fruitful meeting with Ambassador of Iran Mehdi Honardoost in which both the
sides expressed resolve to go ahead with the IP project.
Saulat said conditions in new atmosphere are very favourable for Pakistan regarding the Iran-Pakistan and a Pakistani delegation will visit Iran by the end of this month or early next month to discuss matters related to the pipeline project.
The delegation will comprise of five to six people from the ministry of petroleum and natural sources, he said. During the meeting, the ambassador also discussed possibility of cooperation between the two countries in liquefied petroleum gas sector, he added.
“We have already awarded the contract for building of Gwadar-Nawabshah pipeline, which is part of the Iran-Pakistan to Chinese company and also hopeful that construction of remaining 80 kilometers portion of the Iran-Pakistan from Gwadar to Iranian border will start soon.”
