Agreement signed for modern hospital in Muzaffargarh

On the directives of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, an agreement was signed between Punjab Health Department, Tayyip Erdogan Hospital Trust and the district government of Muzaffargarh for constructing a state-of-the-art 500-bed Tayyip Erdogan Hospital.
According to the agreement, the Punjab government will provide land and an initial amount of Rs 300 million. A medical college will also be constructed along with the hospital. Later, Rs 2 billion will be provided for the project under a phased programme. The signing ceremony was held at the Chief Minister’s Office, according to a handout issued on Saturday. Spokesman for Punjab government Syed Zaeem Hussain Qadri, Tayyip Erdogan Hospital Trust Chairman Mian M Ahsan and others were present on the occasion.
At the inauguration of the Tayyip Erdogan Hospital Muzaffargarh, Shahbaz had announced that the existing 50-bed hospital would be up-graded to 500-bed international standard hospital. Addressing the ceremony, Qadri said friendly relations existed between Pakistan and Turkey and the Punjab government would provide all resources for the project.
Mian Ahsan said he would come up to the confidence reposed by the Punjab government, adding that free and quality treatment would be provided to the patients without any discrimination. He said Tayyip Erdogan Hospital Trust would look after the construction work and other affairs of the hospital.
The health secretary said 44,104 patients had been examined in the hospital’s emergency from July 2014 to to-date, while free treatment facilities were provided to 8,500 outdoor patients. He said 850 cardiac patients were treated while laboratory tests of 20,891 persons had also been conducted. He said 130 staff members – including 14 consultants, 26 medical / woman medical officers and 42 nurses – were working in the hospital.
PU wins prize: A team of Masters and MPhil students from Punjab University’s Institute of Chemical Engineering and Technology (ICET), headed by Prof Dr Mahmood Saleem, participated in All Pakistan Dice Energy Competition held in Karachi and won 3rd prize worth Rs 40,000.
