Bus tragedy

The recent accident of the IIUI bus that took place on Nov 2, 2016, in Islamabad highlights the violation of traffic rules by bus drivers which puts thousands of lives in danger. However, the higher authorities didn’t take the matter seriously. The authorities should have ordered a thorough investigation of the incident. The Ministry of Education should have involved in the matter to ensure the safety of students. No attention was given to the tragic accident.

Still, the accident is an eye-opener for the authorities to take appropriate steps for the safety of students. A traffic violation should be penalised heavily. If a vehicle is run under the name of an education institution, the institution should be heavily fined as well. How many more lives have to be lost for the authorities to realise the need for the imposition of serious punishment on the traffic violation to ensure the safety of thousands of those who travel daily by these buses?
