The counter-terrorism department police arrested three suspected facilitators of banned outfits in two separate raids in Korangi and Lyari on Friday.
The CTD Operations-II police said they were trying to locate terrorists with the help of an intelligence agency during which they were tipped off about hideouts in Korangi and Lyari
CTD personnel conducted raids in Korangi and Lyari and after some resistance managed to arrest three terrorists. They were identified as Mohammed Aziz, Tauseef Zaheer and Abdul Hafiz, members of al-Qaeda Indian Subcontinent and Lashkar-e-Jhangvi.
While searching their hideouts, police found four kilogrammes of explosives, three grenades, two pistols and bullets.
The CTD said Aziz was a facilitator of AQIS and trained in Afghanistan. He was involved in terrorist activities and also extorted money for his organisation. He was involved in an attack on a police constable near Sea View and also worked as an informant for the AQIS. Besides, he also monitored the movement of police officials for target killings.
The CTD said Tauseef was a facilitator of the LeJ and was trained in Afghanistan.
He is involved in killing of law enforcement agencies personnel and gathered information about the place where the LeJ intended to attack. Abdul Hafeez, also an LeJ facilitator, financially and logistically helped the organisation. He also deputed suicide bombers for attacks.
