IGP sets up cell for internal accountability

Punjab IGP Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera has said a special cell has been established to make system of internal accountability in police more transparent and effective.
The cell will work under supervision of Additional IGP Discipline and Inspection, while one DIG along with a team of three AIGs and one PSP level member from each region of the province will work for Discipline and Inspection Cell.
Discipline and Inspection Cell will investigate complaints against high handedness of police officers and officials transparently and departmental and legal action will be taken against culprits without any delay. He said under supervision of Additional IGP, working of internal accountability in police will be improved. Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera stated this while chairing a meeting held at Central Police Office on Thursday. Additional IGP Welfare and Finance, Sohail Khan, Addl: IGP Operations and Investigation Punjab, Arif Nawaz, Addl: IGP Establishment Punjab, Dr Arif Mushtaq, DIG I.T, Shahid Hanif, DIG Operations Punjab, Aamir Zulfiqar Khan, DIG Headquarters, BA Nasir, DIG R & D, Ahmad Ishaque Jehangir, DIG Welfare, Waseem Sial, DIG SPU, Agha Muhammad Yousuf and other senior police officers attended the meeting.
IGP directed Additional IG Welfare and Finance to improve the monitoring system of “Guzara Allowance ATM Cards” issued to the widows of martyrs and police officials passed away during service. He directed to link details of Dowry Fund, Scholarships and Burial Fund with accounts of Guzara Allowance beneficiaries to avoid any errors in records of welfare projects.
While directing regarding project of trackers installation in Police vehicles to stop any illegal use of them at any level, IGP directed to expedite the work and complete the process of trackers installation in police vehicles throughout the province by December 15, 2016.
He directed to utilize all available resources to complete the project of establishing Front Desks in remaining police stations of the province during current financial year and to ensure that these Front Desks are operational by the end of this financial year.
IGP Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera directed DIG IT to regulate and monitor ACRs of police officials through HRMIS system and to send letters of displeasure to police units that are not using HRMIS system properly.
IGP directed DIG Special Protection Unit Agha Yousuf to complete the process of shifting headquarter of SPU to Farooqabad and to ensure that SPU headquarter in Farooqabad should be operational within one month.
Two die: Two people died in road accidents on Thursday.
A bike rider, Khalid, was passing through Bund Road when a rashly-driven dumper hit and injured him. He was rushed to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
In another incident, a man died and his companion, both yet to be identified, sustained critical injuries when a speeding bus hit them in the Manga Mandi area. They were on their way on a bike when a bus hit them, as a result, they were badly injured and rushed to hospital where one of them died. The deceased was stated to be the father of the injured man. Police have shifted the bodies to morgue.
FIA raids: FIA Corporate Crime Circle Thursday arrested two people involved in Hundi/Hawala business, in two raids.
On the directions of Assistant Director Jameel Ahmed Khan Mayo, two FIA teams led by Inspector Nasir Awan and Inspector Abdul Qayyum raided shops in Landa Bazaar and Shah Alam Market and recovered thousands of rupees in cash, receipts, registers, etc. The FIA teams arrested M Shafi and Absar Hafeez and registered cases against them.
