KARACHI: Secretary Sindh Squash Association (SSA) has sent a legal notice to Pakistan Squash Federation’s (PSF) honorary secretary Amir Nawaz for “promoting corruption and nepotism”.

SSA secretary Amir Khan through his counsel has sent a 10-day legal notice to PSF’s secretary, asking him to stop “illegal patronage of fake SSA”.

The notice stated that Amir Khan was an elected secretary general of SSA and had been making efforts to promote squash in Pakistan and had achieved excellence in finding and coaching new talent in Pakistan.

“Our client raised voice against financial irregularities and misappropriate of funds by Tahir Jamil Khanzada, who was supposed to be dismissed by you but due to your patronage he is presently enjoying and holding three offices illegally contrary to norms of law,” stated the notice.

The notice mentioned that Tahir was PSF vice president, senior vice president of SSA, and director referee at PSF. “You are not only involved in promoting corruption and nepotism but also supporting corrupt people by awarding PSF and SSA Offices to them in complete violation of the constitution and spots policy,” stated the notice.

The notice added that PSF secretary had been involved in illegal activities by propagating “un-constitutional self-engineered so-called ban on Mohammad Amir without any justification”.

It further said: “You are also involved in choosing and selecting Tahir Jamil Khanzada and offering him official portfolio in derogation of the constitution, sports policy and Olympic Association. Our client [Mohammad Amir] is a genuine office bearer of SSA elected in the presence of authorised representatives of Sindh Sports Board (SSB) and recognized by Sindh Olympic Association (SOA).

“Thus you are intimated through this notice to stop your illegal patronage of fake Sindh Squash Association.

“Desist from defamation, humiliation and causing torture to our client by propagating so called ‘ban’ and cancel/revoke all illegal offices awarded to Tahir Jamil Khanzada contrary to the constitution within a period of 10 days from the date of receipt of this notice, failing which we have definite instructions to initiate necessary proceeding against you in the court of law, at your own risk and cost,” stated the notice.
