PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Economic Zone Development and Management Company (KPEZDMC) would provide vocational and technical training to 10,000 youth in Haripur district.
The KPEZDMC singed memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Shaheen Vocational Training Institute (SVTI) and UNDP to provide Technical and Vocational Training to unemployed youth of district Haripur.
The vocational and technical training would be provided under the ‘Job Cell Programme, stated a press release issued here Friday. According to the MoU, KPEZDMC and SVTI would coordinate the efforts in three major areas, identification of demand-driven trades for providing competency based training, technical and vocational training for imparting educational facilities to the local youth and creating employment opportunities for the beneficiaries through close coordination with the industrialists.
Under the MoU, the press release said, the SVTI would provide technical support for achieving the objectives of the technical and vocational training and non-formal education centers. The KPEZDMC would recruit staff for monitoring and evaluation of the training programme, the release added.
It said that initially a batch of 75 trainees had been successfully enrolled in the programme and the registrations were in process for the next batches for the technical and vocational training as well.
It said the initiative was aimed at reducing the problem of unemployment and to provide support and assistance to the unemployed youth of the district, particularly to the youth with limited skills and resources.
