Committee de-notifies contract appointment of IHC registrar

Islamabad: A three-member judges committee to review appointments in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) in pursuance of the apex Supreme Court (SC) of Pakistan judgment dated September 26 has de-notified the contract appointment of IHC registrar Atiq-ur-Rehman.

Atiq-ur-Rehman after getting retired as session judge, Islamabad was appointed as registrar of IHC for a contract period of six months on June 7.

IHC notification dated October 22 reads “The Honourable Committee of this court, constituted vide said judgment, has been pleased to de-notify the Notification No. Conf.IHC/147 dated 07.06.2016 regarding contract employment of Mr. Atiq-ur-Rehman as Registrar of this court, with immediate effect.”

It is to mention here that former member inspection team (MIT) Raja Jawad Abbas has now been appointed as registrar of IHC.

The committee comprising Justice Noorul Haq N Qureshi, Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui and Justice Athar Minallah has also either demoted or dismissed few other officials after perusing record of their appointments.

Personal secretary to chief justice Sohail has been demoted from grade 20 to 18, a librarian Asif Iqbal from grade 19 to 18, Assistant Protocol Officer Shoaib Lateef from grade 16 to 7 and Khateeb of the IHC mosque Muhammad Shahid from grade 17 to 10.  One assistant Farzana Bahadur has been dismissed.
