Youth participates in Green Pakistan Programme

The students of schools in federal capital participated in Green Pakistan Programme started by Ministry of Climate change.
The spokesman for the Climate Change Ministry said “This is first practical initiative of plantation under Green Pakistan Programme taken by Ministry of Climate Change with school children.”
The purpose of the initiative was to prepare young minds to make Pakistan green. He said “We are really proud to our young students who made our first effort successful in making Pakistan green.” They showed wonderful efforts and contribution in the plantation campaign to fulfil our target of 100 million trees in the country.
He said Pakistan signed Paris Agreement and showed its commitment to implement it. Pakistan is going to participate in 22nd session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 22) in November.
This plantation campaign before COP 22 is also a step to prove our commitment and also to show that we are taking concrete steps to create awareness and involving our children.
The ongoing project include sustainable and green cities sustainable land management programme to combat desertification establishment of geomatic centre for climate change and sustainable development and establishment of climate change transparent forest surveys reporting unit.
He said the federal government has allocated Rs1,027 million for the ministry of climate change in the public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) 2016-17 for two ongoing and one new scheme.
