Power ‘failure’
By our correspondents
October 25, 2016
This relates to the now viral video of an FC official slapping a woman reporter. The incident gained attention because a media person was involved in it. However, hundreds of such incidents take place daily across the country. The majority of government officials, including police officers and constables, treat the common man poorly. I have witnessed a few such incidents indicating the misuse of the power of the law-enforcement agencies.
Our leaders are requested to focus on the outdated ‘thana’ culture, inherited from the British Raj that was meant to rule not to serve. They must design the police system in such a way that police officials perform their duty well and do not misbehave with the common man.
