Child killed in Timergara blast

TIMERGARA: A 14-year-old wielder died in an explosion that occurred while he was busy wielding on pipes at his shop in here on Sunday.The police said the blast occurred due to the explosives inside the pipes, which resulted in serious injuries to Zakria, a resident of Malakand Payeen in Lower Dir. The boy was rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital in Timergara for treatment where he succumbed to his injuries. The police have arrested two suspects and sealed the shop while further investigation is underway.   

 

Woman dies in accident

SUKKUR: A woman was killed and four other people sustained injuries in a collision between two cars at the Shikarpur-Larkana junction of the Indus Highway. The deceased was identified as Safia Zafar Arain.  Police shifted the injured to a hospital.

 

Three die in clash in Radhan

SUKKUR: Three people were killed in a clash between two groups of Chandio clan in Radhan. Reports said that a clash between two groups of Chandio clan broke out over an old enmity during which both the groups used automatic weapons, which resulted in the killing of Rashid, Inayat Chandio and Ali Hyder.

 

Two commit suicide

SUKKUR: Two people committed suicide. Reports said that in Larkana 23-year-old Waseem Bhutto committed suicide. Parents of the deceased said that he had applied to the police department for a job, but when he was not selected for the job he got so dejected that he committed suicide. Respectively in Village Juman Zardari, a youth committed suicide over a domestic issue.

SHOs directed to take action against culprits

LAKKI MARWAT: The station house officers and in-charge officers of police posts have been directed to take stern action against those involved in the practice of weapons display and aerial firing. District Police Officer (DPO) Khalid Hamdani has issued the directions here on Saturday.The district police chief said that aerial firing would not be tolerated as the menace could cause harm and put the lives of people in danger.He asked the station house officers and police officers posted at police posts to realise their responsibilities and make limits of their police stations free from menace. “The SHOs should ensure that not a single bullet is fired into the air in the limits of their respective police stations,” he maintained. He also directed SHOs to deal with an iron fist those challenging the writ of law.

Two killed in firing

PESHAWAR: Two persons were killed and another wounded in firing in Matani on Sunday. Locals said the firing started between two groups that killed one Wajid and injured his brother Sajid from one side while one Shah Hussain was killed from the other side. Police have started conducting raids to arrest the culprits.

Polio immunisation awareness rally held

PESHAWAR: A bike rally was held to create awareness among the people about the crippling polio virus. The district administration had organised the rally ahead of the World Polio Day to be marked tomorrow, stated a press release issued here on Saturday. The day was celebrated on October, 24 to commemorate the fight against poliomyelitis. The release said that around 200 bikers participated in the rally which was started from Chamkani Mor on the Grand Trunk Road and culminated at the Saddar area in the provincial capital. Additional Assistant Commissioner Imran Khan, Dr Ikramullah Khan, polio in-charge Hina Tabassum and others were also present.

Explosives, bomb-making equipment seized in Bajaur

KHAR: The security forces recovered a huge quantity of weapons, ammunition and bomb-making equipment during a search operation in Salarzai tehsil in Bajaur Agency, sources said on Saturday. They said that the forces launched search in Banda area in Salazai tehsil early in the day and made the recovery. The forces also arrested two suspected persons during the search. The seized items included improvised explosive devices, suicide vests, bomb-making equipment, rocket shells and ammunition. The sources said the militants had hidden the explosives in tunnels in various areas of the tehsil.
