LAHORE

Taking strict notice of giving additional charge to Tehsildars and Naib Tehsildars in land centers, Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif expressed indignation and ordered immediate cancellation of the notification.

He was presiding over a meeting through video link on Saturday. He said the land record management information system was a revolutionary step of the Punjab government which had eliminated obsolete Patwar culture.  He said people were now getting ownership deeds and other land documents without any bribe or delay.  He issued instructions that immediate steps should be taken for setting up Land Record Authority and draft of law should be finalised in this regard. The chief minister said the land record management information system was a milestone in ridding the people of an obsolete system and elimination of Patwar culture and corruption. He said the Punjab government had completed the project transparently and people of the province were benefiting from it.

He said that he will not tolerate corruption in the mega project.  He said he had directed earlier that Tehsildars and Patwaris should be kept away from the project but still a notification, giving additional charge to Tehsildars and Naib Tehsildars for land centers was issued in different districts.
