KARACHI: Hosts Malaysia defeated Pakistan 4-2 in their opening match of the 4th Asian Champions Trophy in the Malaysian city of Kuantan on Thursday.
Pakistan were leading in the second quarter 2-1 before rain stopped the play for 16 minutes.
On resumption, the visitors lost the momentum and paid a heavy price, conceding two goals in a span of five minutes.
Pakistan tried to bounce back and made some penetrating attacks but could not convert the chances.
Malaysia’s fourth goal came in the dying moments of the match.
Both the goals for Pakistan were scored by Aleem Bilal off penalty corners.
Pakistan will now face South Korea on Friday (today).
