Two absconding accused in the Perween Rehman murder case were declared proclaimed offenders by an anti-terrorism court on Thursday. The court also announced that it would be framing charges against the one accused in custody at the next case hearing.

The declared POs were Noor Muhammad and Ahsan, while the one under-detention accused, Rahim Swati, was provided a copy of the charges against him. The absconding accused are also facing cases pertaining to police encounters, possession of illegal weapons and attempted murder.

The court ordered the authorities to initiate proceedings for confiscation of movable and immoveable properties of both accused.  Both the POs are said to have been associated, first, with the Awami National Party, and later with the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan.

Rehman, acting director of the Orangi Pilot Project, had been gunned down near her office in Orangi Town on March 13, 2013.
