Rangers’ powers in Karachi extended for another three months

ISLAMABAD: Ministry of Interior on Monday issued a notification regarding extending powers of Pakistan Rangers in Karachi division for another period of 90 days, a spokesman of the interior ministry said.
The powers have been extended on the request of the provincial government of Sindh. The granting of 90-day extension to special powers of Rangers with effect from October 18, 2016, enables the paramilitary troops to exercise their special powers under Anti Terrorism Act.
Spokesman of the ministry said this time matter relating to extension in Pakistan Rangers powers were settled amicably and through mutual coordination.
