1,000 students apply for paper remarking
LAHORE
Board of Intermediate & Secondary Education (BISE) Lahore has received over 1,000 applications by candidates for rechecking of papers of Intermediate Part-I Annual Examination 2016.
A large number of students on Friday had protested against the BISE authorities for what they termed wrong marking. After the protest, the board authorities had offered free-of-cost rechecking of papers for which last date is October 25.
It is pertinent to mention here that BISE usually collects Rs700 as rechecking fee for each script (paper). The board office witnessed crowded situation as hundreds of candidates visited to submit applications for rechecking. Some students also protested to receive receipt of applications on blank paper.
body: Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has constituted a four-member committee to review complaints and concerns of students regarding Intermediate Part-1 examination results declared by Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Lahore. Additional Chief Secretary Shumail Ahmed Khawaja will be the Convener of the committee while Chairman Chief Minister’s Inspection Team will be its co-Convener. A nominee of Punjab Information Technology Board and a person co-opted by the committee will be its members. The committee will examine the system for marking of examination papers/tabulation of results in correct manner and various counter-checks to ensure a fair/correct marking of examination papers and preparation of results.
The committee will also examine implementation of existing rules/policies for marking of examination papers/tabulation of results by BISE Lahore and report any deviation/violation thereof on the part of officers/examiners concerned of BISE, Lahore. Clear responsibility will accordingly be fixed in this regard.
The committee will recommend safeguards/measures to improve the system of marking of examination papers/tabulation of results and submit its report to the chief minister within four days.
