Dengue fever claims another life at HFH
124 more confirmed positive in 48 hours take tally to 1058 at allied hospitals

The population in the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi is facing the most intense phase of dengue fever spike as in last two days only; another 124 patients have been tested positive for the infection here at the allied hospitals in town while the infection claimed another life at Holy Family Hospital taking tally to three.
The continuous rise in number of dengue fever patients from the twin cities hints that the outbreak is getting more and more intense and the concerned authorities both in the federal and the provincial governments have failed in checking spread of the infection.
Data collected by ‘The News’ on Monday, a day before Muharram holidays, reveals that the allied hospitals in town have tested another 124 patients positive for dengue fever in last 48 hours taking total number of confirmed patients of the infection so far reported at the allied hospitals to 1,058.
Death of another confirmed patient of dengue fever due to the infection and co-morbidities here at the HFH took the total number of patients died of the infection to three in last one month. The patient died at the HFH on Saturday was suffering from diabetes and went under septic shock.
As many as 68 patients have been tested positive for dengue fever at HFH while Benazir Bhutto Hospital tested another 50 patients positive for the infection in last two days. The District Headquarters Hospital, however, tested only six patients positive for dengue fever in last 48 hours.
It is important to mention here that nearly 60 per cent of the total confirmed patients of dengue fever reaching allied hospitals in town are residents of the federal capital.
A total of 541 patients have been confirmed positive for dengue fever through NS1 test at the HFH so far this year while a total of 127 patients including 112 confirmed patients of the infection were undergoing treatment at the HFH on Monday.
Confirmation of 50 more patients positive for dengue fever at the BBH in last 48 hours took the total number of positive cases of infection to 421 at the hospital while the BBH was waiting for results of another 43 probable cases. On Monday, as many as 147 patients including 72 confirmed cases were undergoing treatment at the dengue ward of BBH.
The DHQ Hospital has so far confirmed 96 patients of dengue fever while on Monday, a total of 16 patients, all confirmed positive for dengue fever, were undergoing treatment at the DHQ Hospital.
