Agreement signed

FAISALABAD: The Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University (FAFU), China, and the University of Agriculture Faisalabad on Monday inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to collaborate in education and research and areas of mutual concern.  The MoU was inked by UAF Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan and FAFU President Dr Lan Siren. Speaking on the occasion, FAFU acting Deputy Director of International Affairs You Yang Chen said that the collaborative work would help learn from each other experiences. He said that in the FAFU, 160 international students were studying from 44 countries. He said that 55 Pakistani students were studying in the FAFU and of them eight were from the UAF. He offered that 10 PhDs from the UAF might be admitted to the FAFU for PhD programmes every year. He said that the university had initiated a unique programme in Bee Sciences. He said that the FAFU had been leading the country in researches in sugarcane, bee, fiber crops, bio pesticide and cedar wood. UAF Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan said that the UAF was housing a Confucius Institute that was among the best institutions in the country. He said that as many as 31 faculty members of the UAF had studied from China. He said that the UAF was enjoying good relations with the Chinese institutions. He said that agriculture was the backbone of our economy that was directly linked to the rural development.
