Young Hamza scores triple century

KARACHI: Hamza Ghanchi scored a marvelous triple century as Karachi Whites declared their first innings after piling up a mammoth total of 628 for five against NBP at NBP Sports Complex on day two of their four-day match of Quaid-e-Azam Trophy.

The 21-year-old left-handed batsman struck 32 fours in his unbeaten 300. He was not out on 132 at the end of the first day’s play. Interestingly, this was his first three-figure score. His previous best was 73.

Behram Khan, who was not out on 112, got out after making 155 in which he hit 16 fours and a six.

In response, NBP were 29 for two at stumps. Both wickets were taken by Tabish Khan.

At Jinnah Stadium, Sialkot, FATA reached 234 for four in response to KRL’s 352.

Captain Fawad Khan was run out for 95. Mohammad Abbas took two wickets.

Earlier, KRL resumed their innings from 281 for seven and reached 352 before being bowled out. Saeed Anwar Junior got out after making 157. His innings included 17 fours. Asif Afridi got five for 102 and Asif Ali got three for 54.

At Diamond Club, Ground, Islamabad, HBL were set a target of 154 by Islamabad. The bankers were 15 without any loss at the close of the day’s play.

As many as 18 wickets fell during the day’s proceedings as HBL resumed from 67 for two and were all out for 168 in response to Islamabad’s 176. No 9 Amad Butt was HBL’s highest scorer with 42 runs. Their innings was wrecked by Shehzad Azam, who got seven for 49.

In their second innings, Islamabad were bowled out for 145. Umar Kiyani was their top scorer with 49. Yamin Ahmadzai, Amad Butt and Usman Khan got three wickets each.

At National Stadium, Karachi, Karachi Blues reached 184 for six in response to WAPDA’s 342.

Fazal Subhan made 35 and Mohammad Waqas scored 43.

WAPDA’s Mohammad Saad, who was not out on 97 got out on 106. Abdul Ameer got six for 79.

At Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, UBL’s Umar Siddiq scored 185 to push his side to 448 in their first innings against Lahore Blues. Umar, who was not out on 136 on day one with UBL at 317 for four, smashed 24 fours in his knock.

Lahore Blues were 90 for two in response with Waqas Saleem batting on 55.

At LCCA Ground, Lahore, Lahore Whites took a substantial lead as they bowled PIA for just 175 thanks to fine bowling from Adnan Rasool and Qaiser Ashraf, who got four and three wickets, respectively. Fahad Iqbal was PIA’s top scorer with 46 runs.

Lahore Whites had earlier got out for 365 in their first innings after resuming from 314 for eight. Umaid Asif, who was not out on 23, scored 57. Tahir Khan grabbed six for 101.

In their second innings, Lahore Whites were five for the loss of Mohammad Waqas who departed for a duck.

At Arbab Niaz Stadium, Peshawar, Awais Zia scored 122 not out to put SSGC in a comfortable position against Peshawar. SSGC were 238 for one against Peshawar’s first innings total of 333. Ali Asad got out after making 91.

Peshawar’s Mehran Ibrahim, who was not out on 56 on day one, got out after scoring 77. Asif Fawad scored 37.
