Fazl terms Fata Reforms Committee report incorrect

TIMERGARA: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman said on Sunday his party had reservations over the report presented by the Fata Reforms Committee in the Parliament.

“We have reservations over the report of the Fata Reforms Committee on the status of the tribal areas as it is replete with wrong statistics and information,” he said while addressing a conference here.

A large number of party workers from Lower Dir, Upper Dir and Bajaur Agency attended the moot. Federal Minister for Housing Akram Khan Durrani, JUI-F provincial chief Maulana Gul Naseeb Khan, former MNA and provincial general secretary Maulana Shujaul Mulk, party  Lower Dir chief Maulana Zahid Khan and Bajaur Agency chief Maulana Abdul Rashid also spoke on the occasion.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman said his party wanted a dignified repatriation of the Afghan refugees. He said the Afghans were their Muslim brethren and should be treated as such. “The National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) has blocked the computerised national identity cards of many tribesmen on the suspicion of being Afghans,” he maintained and demanded the Nadra authorities to immediately unblock the CNICs of tribespeople. He said the country badly suffered by lending unconditional support to the US during its invasion of Afghanistan.

The JUI-F chief said the US allowed its citizens to lodge cases against Saudi Arabia for its alleged involvement in the 9/11 attacks to blackmail the monarchy and capture its resources. Criticising the US and its allies, the JUI-F chief said that innocent people were killed in Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Syria and Yemen. He said the US didn’t want to establish peace in the Muslim world as it was bent upon destabilising Muslims countries.

The Maulana said that the tribal people were sincere and patriotic Pakistanis, who were displaced and tortured in the name of war against terrorism. He said the Fata had been pushed into an unending war. “The tribesmen faced humiliation and insult. They were displaced due to the conflict in their areas,” he added.

About the tension on the eastern border, Fazlur Rehman announced that JUI-F workers would fight the India soldiers alongside the Pakistan Army if the country was attacked.“The people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will see the real change after the 2018 general elections,” Fazlur Rehman said. He hoped the JUI-F would emerge victorious in the next general election and the party would form government in the province.

Speaking on the occasion, Akram Khan Durrani said the JUI-F would again come into power and would spare no efforts to serve the people. Coming down hard on the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf-led provincial government, he said it had been unable to implement its ambitious reform agenda and deliver on its pledges. He said the provincial government had not been able to undertake a single mega uplift project anywhere in the province, which spoke volumes about its performance.
