LEAs shoot dead ‘Arshad Pappu’s men who killed his nephews’

An encounter in Pak Colony police limits, on Thursday, was said to have resulted in the killing of two men involved in the murders of three brothers, whose bullet-riddled bodies were found from Gulbahar and Shershah police limits on September 24.

The Rangers and police officials both were said to have carried the encounter out, on a ‘tip-off’ regarding the men hiding in a house near Lasi Mohallah, near the Mewashah graveyard, disclosed SPP West Pir Muhammad Shah while speaking to The News.

Identified as Maula Dad Baloch, 30, and Anayat Baloch, 25, the men were claimed to be associated with the murdered notorious Lyari gangster Arshad Pappu, and had been involved in around 75 cases of targeted killings, kidnappings for ransom, extortion and other heinous crimes.

While Maula Dad was identified as a nephew of Pappu, Anayat was said to be the gang leader’s right-hand, whereas the three brothers killed on Saturday last, were also reported to be nephews of Arshad Pappu.

As per the police’s statement the killed men were the first to have opened fire on the personnel and that they retaliated in self-defence. The retaliatory fire resulted in injuring both the deceased at the spot, while a third accomplice escaped.

SSP Shah further claimed that the men had disclosed their identities and their criminal background en route the Civil Hospital; both, however, died before reaching the hospital.

Of the three brothers killed bodies of two – Aashiq Baloch and Kashif Baloch – were found in gunny bags dumped in a Lyari river area that came under the ambit of the Gulbahar police station, while the third brother’s – Saqib - body was found wrapped in a blanket from Akber road, under the jurisdiction of the Shershah police. It was, however, not till the next day that the third brother’s identity was ascertained. 

Appearing to be between 25 and 30 years old, the brothers were also alleged to be gangsters and were supposed to have been killed by rival gang members.  Five grenades, three Klashnikovs and four Mausers were recovered from the possession of the two men killed in the encounter.
