I’ll give a date if ECP delays Panama Papers pleas: Imran
LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan has said the PTI will continue its struggle till the rulers present themselves for accountability.
Addressing different public gatherings during his visit to PTI camps in various constituencies of Lahore, Imran said the PTI was fighting a battle to protect the future of Pakistan. He said the “accountability movement” had entered its final round and a massive participation of people in the Raiwind march would give a clear verdict against the rulers.
He said the country was being run by a mafia and corrupt elements whose sole objective was to accumulate wealth. Nawaz Sharif was causing a colossal loss to national institutions. The PTI will continue its fight against the mafia till the country was purged of corruption, he said.
Imran visited the PTI camps in Badami Bagh, Bhati Chowk, Nasir Bagh, Liberty Chowk, Wapda Town, Ghazi Chowk, Mughalpura and was given a warm welcome by his party workers.Earlier, he visited the residence of former PTI Punjab President Ejaz Chaudhry and attended a reception. Senior PTI leaders including Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Jehangir Tareen, Aleem Khan, Khursheed Kasuri and Mian Mehmoodul Rasheed were present there.Speaking on the occasion, Imran said the PTI would create history in Raiwind on September 30. Condemning the torture and arrest of farmers, he said the Punjab government had crossed all limits of oppression against farmers.
Later, talking to the media, he said he would also give a date if the Election Commission of Pakistan further extended the hearing of petitions filed for probe into the Panama Papers. He said this in reaction to Chief Election Commissioner Justice (retd) Sardar Raza Khan’s observation that decisions would not be taken in rallies but at the Election Commission of Pakistan.
Imran demanded the interior minister to protect the Supreme Court of Pakistan and said when Nawaz Sharif was scared of anything, he attacked it. He said the PTI was out to protect institutions, adding that the Election Commission of Pakistan, rather than meeting the demands of justice, was protecting the influential.
