Baloch students visit HEC

Over 150 students from universities of Balochistan visited Higher Education Commission (HEC) Secretariat on Tuesday.

The students were accompanied by Dr. Javed Iqbal, Vice Chancellor, University of Balochistan Quetta; Brig (r) Muhammad Amin, Vice Chancellor, Balochistan University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) Khuzdar, and Dr. Dost Muhammad, Vice Chancellor, Lasbela University of Agriculture, Water and Marine Sciences.

Dr. Arshad Ali, Executive Director HEC, and senior management of the Commission welcomed the delegation. Dr. Arshad gave students an overview of HEC initiatives for development of higher education in the province, including different scholarship and R&D opportunities available for faculty members, researchers and particularly students.

He appreciated the Vice Chancellors of Balochistan’s universities for taking keen interest and adopting a proactive approach for development of their institutions. Wasim Hashmi Syed, Adviser (HRD) HEC, gave details of Balochistan specific scholarship programmes for students. Dr. Muhammad Latif, Adviser HEC elaborated different programmes of HEC for promoting research and development activities in the university.

During question-answer session, the students praised HEC for taking special initiatives for higher education in Balochistan. They also gave suggestions for further improvement. The visiting students belong to University of Balochistan, Balochistan University of Information Technology, Engineering and Management Sciences, Sardar Bahadur Khan Women University, University of Turbat, and Lasbela University of Agriculture, Water and Marine Sciences.
