Change of command of Pak Army’s North Sector held at Khar

BAJAUR AGENCY: Change of command of Pakistan Army’s North Sector was held here at Bajaur Scouts’ Headquarters in Khar on Sunday, where outgoing Sector Commander Brig Muhammad Ziaul Islam handed over the command stick to Brigadier Amir Kayani.

The ceremony was attended by senior officials of security forces and local administration, including Commandant Bajaur Scouts Colonel Nayyar Zaman, Assistant Political Agent Muhammad Ali, tribal elders, members of peace committees, political and trader leaders.

Speaking on the occasion Brig Muhammad Ziaul Islam said the security forces, with the support of tribesmen and local administration, had successfully eliminated militants and their supporters from Bajaur Agency.

The writ of the government and peace had been restored in the whole region while the agency had been secured from terror activities, he added. He paid tributes to the trial elders and people for their sacrifices in fighting against the militants in the agency.

He said the people of Bajaur agency were very loyal and devoted citizens of the country who had played an exemplary role in defeating the militants and their sympathizers in the agency. Brig Islam said he had served in several areas of the country but he found the people of Bajaur Agency more peace- loving, committed and devoted.

New Sector Commander Brig Kayani said he would pursue the policy of his predecessor to rid the agency of militancy and anti-peace elements forever. He urged the tribal elders to continue supporting the forces in keeping peace and writ of the government in the agency. On the occasion the elders and members of peace committee assured the sector commander about their support in the fight against militants.
