PMA polls postponed
Pakistan Medical Association (PMA), Punjab, has postponed elections to November 6, 2016 after doctors’ demand to include voters of remaining 18 district branches of Punjab in the polling plan and make polling stations at the district level. Presently, there are 18 districts which are member districts of PMA, Punjab. Besides, there is a single polling station in Lahore for all voters of all Punjab. Earlier, the elections of PMA, Punjab, were scheduled to be held on September 25, 2016. The PMA, Punjab’s general body meeting was held under the chairmanship of Dr Mehr Muhammad Iqbal on Sunday which was attended by members from all district branches of Punjab. The meeting postponed the elections to review the demands.Meanwhile, the general body approved the election of the following candidates unopposed for the year 2016-2017. Deputy Election Commissioner Dr Muhammad Nadir Khan has notified that Dr Kamran Saeed, Lahore, has been elected general secretary and Dr Muhammad Aleem Nawaz, Lahore, finance secretary. The vice-presidents are Dr Muhammad Irfan for Faisalabad division, Dr Sikandar Hayyat Warraich for Sargodha division, Dr Rana Sohail for Lahore division, Dr Shahzad Tahir Ch for Sahiwal division, Dr Najeeb ur Rehman, Muzafargarh, for DG Khan division and Dr Najam Jamshaid for Multan division. —Correspondent
