Quality control board to prosecute 9 cases in drug court

FAISALABAD: The district quality control board Saturday decided to prosecute nine cases against medical store owners in drug court.

It has been decided in a meeting of the quality control board with DCO Salman Ghani.

The board would request the court to cancel their licenses.

The board also decided to register cases against three medical store owners on charges of selling government medicines and violating the Drugs Act.

The board reviewed 19 cases against medical store owners filed by drug inspectors during the last month. During the hearing of the cases four medical store owners were warned and directed to follow the Drugs Act rules in letter and spirits. Two cases were adjourned for lack of relevant record and directions were issued to de-seal a medical store after getting record of sale and purchase of medicines.

The DCO directed drug inspectors to cancel licences and register cases immediately against medical store owners involved in selling stolen medicines from the government hospitals.

He directed action against medical stores that are being run without a qualified person.

He called for stern action against the elements involved in spurious and substandard medicines.

He ordered checking of medical stores repeatedly who were violating Drug Act rules.

The DCO took serious notice over pendency of renewal of drug licenses pleas and directed that cases of renewal of drug licenses should be disposed of within the stipulated time.

EDO Health Dr Nawazish Goraya, Secretary Board Arif Shehzad, member board Ghulam Sabir and Deputy District Prosecutor Ms Sajila Nazir also attended the meeting.

DCO INSPECTS DHQ HOSPITAL: DCO Salman Ghani Saturday visited the DHQ Hospital and inspected pace of construction work of additional story of emergency ward that was being built with the financial assistance of Faisalabad Development Trust.

MS Dr Abdul Rauf, Chairman Faisalabad Development Trust Shaiq Javed, others trustees, EDO Works Azeem Gill, EDO Finance Mahar Ramzan, DO Building Tahir Anjum, DO Budget Rana Tanvir and other officers were also present.

The DCO said equipment and furniture would be arranged to make the hospital section functional.

He was briefed that civil work of the story was almost complete and electrification and other installations process would be carried out in few weeks.

The DCO directed the MS for monitoring the construction work. FDT chairman Shaiq Javed said the story at Emergency Ward would be completed by 45 days.
