3,400 patients brought to DG Khan hospital during Eid days

DERA GHAZI KHAN: Overeating during Eid holidays has made the district headquarters hospital overcrowded with patients.
According to the hospital data, the patients are mostly suffering from indigestion, vomiting and diarrhea. More than 3,400 patients were brought to the hospital during the Eid holidays. As many as 1,719 patients were treated at the emergency ward. Of them, 685 were admitted to the hospital while the rest of the patients were discharged after medication. The officials said that around 50 per cent patients suffered indigestion due to overeating and they were treated with antibiotics.
Similarly, 807 people, who were injured in different road accidents mostly due to overspeeding and racing on motorcycles, were shifted to the hospital trauma centre. Of them, 268 seriously injured patients were admitted to the hospital for surgery.
Hospital Deputy Medical Superintendent Dr Hamid Hayat said that the emergency duties were assigned in three shifts during Eid holidays, which faced extraordinary rush of the patients and it was a record in the hospital history.
