Islamabad

The first-ever ‘All-Lions All-Languages and All-Formats Poetry Recitation’ was jointly organised by the five Lions Clubs of the region at Islamabad Club.  Supported by the Development Communications Network (Devcom-Pakistan), the organising committee included Islamabad City LC, Islamabad CMHN LC, Islamabad Countryside LC, Islamabad Crescent LC and the Islamabad Executive LC.

The poetry recitation was presided over by the well-known poet Manzar Naqvi while the District Governor 305N2 Sitara Satwat was the chief guest. Dr. Hassan Saroah, the Vice District Governor, was the guest of honour. The guest poets were Hassan Kazmi, Akhtar Usman, Ashfaq Aamir, Abid Sial and Farrah Deeba. The participating Lions poets included Sa’ad Zia, Aamir Hashmi, Tariq Mughal, Aliha Asma Dar, Fareeha Gezwan, and Chaudhary Liaqaut Ali.

Speaking on the occasion, Sitara Satwat said it is a unique event where we explored the poetic talent of the lions who always found striving hard to serve the marginalized communities. Only soft-hearted people can work for the uplift of the communities, and lions having more emotional catch can feel the miseries of the down trodden communities.
