DDPO to set up rehabilitation and vocational centres for PWDs

“We need to motivate and mobilise people and communities for creation of social awareness about their rights and obligations towards a progressive society with social equity”.

This was stated by MD Pakistan Bait-Ul-Maal (PBM), Barrister Abid Waheed Sheikh while addressing to the PWDs, poor and needy people on the occasion of Independence Dayand Eidul Azha celebrations with Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) organised by Development of Disabled People Organisation (DDPO) at Bari Imam.

Barrister Abid Waheed Sheikh stated that he does not call Person with Disabilities rather persons with special abilities because they are blessed with so many abilities and qualities. He further stated that PBM is improving and expending such arrangements and services to increase opportunities of assessment, training and rehabilitation of the disabled and needy people.

He appreciated the efforts being made by the DDPO in supporting and rehabilitating the PWDs in the Urban and Rural Islamabad.

On this occasion the former Member to the Board of CDA and Chairman of DDPO, Syed Mustafain Kazmi informed that they decided to hold this event in order to involve the PWDs and get them sensitised that they are also celebrating Independence Day and would also celebrate Eidul Azha along with the nation with same commitment, enthusiasm and zeal. He further lauded the role of PBM in serving the poor, marginalized communities and PWDs.

Syed Mustafain Kazmi further stated that the DDPO is planning to setup Rehabilitation Centres for the PWDs beside establishment of vocational training centres in different parts of the country including AJK in collaboration with multinational organisations, philanthropist etc., so that PWDs should have knowledge & training of some skills hence could earn for their livelihood and well being of their family. We further need to organise urban and rural communities in promotion of community development programs thus ensuring their voluntary participation in socio economic development activities on self help basis for their own common good and according to their local felt needs.

On this occasion Director General of Special Education Ministry of CADD, Mrs. Ishrat Masood and District Governor of Lions Clubs International Sitara Satwat also lauded the efforts of PBM and assured their fullest cooperation to DDPO in serving the humanity and neglected segment of the society.

Later on the PBM MD along with DDPO Chairman Syed Mustafain Kazmi, D.G (Special Education) Ishrat Masood, District governor of Lions Clubs International, Sitara Satwat, Executive Director of DDPO Farah Butt and DDPO President M. Ali Butt distributed 50 wheel chairs donated by PBM amongst physically challenged persons.

Moreover on this occasion food packages for Eidul Azha amongst more than 200 PWDs and poor were also distributed. The MD also informed that PBM would also facilitate & bear the all expenses in providing and fixing of artificial limbs to the victims and affected persons.
