LAHORE

Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer  Senator Sirajul Haq has said that  strong reaction from the people of Balochistan against Indian Prime Minister’s Modi’s assertion on Balochistan had proved that they were patriotic and ready to die for the country.

He was speaking at a reference in the memory of Maulana Abdul Hye Mandokhel at Zhob on Sunday. Sirajul Haq paid tribute to Maulana Abdul Hye Mandukhel for his rich services for the supremacy of Islam. Those who addressed the memorial reference also included Pakhtoonkhwa Milli Awami Party’s  Muhammad Raza, JUI’s Maulana Shamsud Din, ANP’s Muhammad Anwar Mandukhel, PTI’s Malik Muhammad Azam and JI Balochistan chief Maulana Abdul Haq Hashmi.

Sirajul Haq said that Balochistan was rich in natural resources but the resources were not being utilised for the uplift of the area. He said that the day people were given their rights, there would be none to speak against Pakistan. He said that raising voice against injustice could not be termed as an anti- Pakistan activity.

The JI chief said that soon after the Quetta tragedy, he had suggested to the prime minister to convene a meeting of the political leaders for consultation. He had proposed that the army chief and heads of security agencies should also be invited to the meeting so as to find out a solution to problems of the area and to restore peace. However, he said, the federal government did not pay heed to his advice and Indian Premier Modi got an opportunity to speak on Balochistan. But, he said, the Balochistan people had given a befitting rebuttal to Modi. He said that dams, hospitals, educational institutions were required for the development of Balochistan. Had these basic facilities been provided to the people of the province, Balochistan would have been a peaceful province by now, he added.

Sirajul Haq said that former Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani had promised jobs for the youth in the province but his words were not honoured. As a result, educated young men were running for jobs with degrees in their hands but in vain.

Meanwhile, Youth Forum Kashmir also staged a rally on Sunday in Lahore to condemn Indian atrocities in the valley. The rally was attended by a large number of people who chanted slogans against Indian Prime Minister Narendera Modi for promoting terrorism in Kashmir and targeting innocent Kashmiris. The participants demanded right to self-determination for Kashmiris.
