Pakistan is a country, like every other third world nation, where crises are the order of the day. Currently, we are faced with a plethora of conundrums. On the CPEC front, the reservations and genuine concerns of the western route’s people are cruelly responded to. Balochistan is passing through the most troubling phase of its history. The state’s indifferent attitude towards it is further aggravating the situation. The trust deficit is now deeply ingrained and the ground situation is further deteriorating. Historically, Balochistan has not reaped the fruits of its natural resources and had to wait until 1983 to even use Sui gas.
There is now a popular feeling that the provinces, excluding Punjab, have their backs against the wall. Our past history is indeed helping this feeling grow even stronger. Therefore, in order to halt the growing trust deficit between the centre and its federating units, it is time the latter prioritised its policies.
